Sleep comes easier on nights like these; when he’s not alone with his thoughts and memories. Those terrible dreams that steal his slumber away don’t visit him as often as they once did, but on this one particular night, it’s something else that robs Mars of his somnolent peace.
He has never been a heavy sleeper, and between strange distant sounds and Barnaby’s movement, it’s soon that golden eyes are greeted with the darkness of his own bedroom.
